  Remained a spinster all her life.  Had an impediment in her speech (hair lip and cleft palette).  Was engaged to be married once upon a time, but suffered a broken engagement and never got over it till  the day she died, and still had items from her "Hope Chest".  She raised William John (Jack) Alpin after his mother died.
