  (Research):According to Betty Arel's website, she has this Mary Thistle as having been born in 1674, which would indicate that her mother was her father Richard's 1st wife, Mary Thorndike, as he then married Elizabeth Patch in 1675.  But .... Betty's website also has a 2nd instance of this same person, but born 29 Oct 1675, the same year her father Richard married his 2nd wife, Elizabeth Patch. So, if her birth date of 1974 is correct, her mother would have to be be Mary Thorndike, because he didn't marry Elizabeth Patch until the following year. But if her birthdate of 29 Oct 1675 is correct, then her mother could still have been Mary Thorndike, who possibly died during childbirth or shortly after that, and then her father married Elizabeth Patch before the end of the year. Or ..... Mary Thorndike died earlier in 1675, or even before, and her father Richard married his 2nd wife Elizabeth Patch early in 1675, and then Mary was born 29 Oct 1675. My guess would be the latter, and that her mother was Elizabeth Patch. And if that wasn't confusing enough, I originally had her as being born 5 years later, in 1680.  No idea where I got that date from.
