  • Notes
    • Alexander Samuel COOPER (1871-1962) was intensely interested in family history, and used to recall that there is a record of a Thomas COOPER of Paget in 1662, who owned one of the original shares in Southampton of 24 acres, and four shares in Somerset of 88 acres.  That would match this Thomas COOPER, date-wise. [4]
    • (Research):Unable to determine whether Thomas was born in Bermuda, and likewise unable to locate an account of his arrival.

He may have had 2 brothers, George & Joseph, as records at St. Anne's Anglican Church in Southampton, Bermuda, reveal the burial of a George COOPER, on 18 August 1682.

Mrs. Julia E. Mercer, an eminent genealogist, mentions the baptism of a Mary COOPER, the daughter of Joseph COOPER.

Mrs. Julia E. Mercer also notes the will of a Mary COOPER, dated 18 April 1640, wherein Mary COOPER makes mention of her two children, Peter & Mary.

Thomas was chosen to serve on the Southampton Vestry in 1650, along with Messrs. Charles MORGAN, Robert DICKINSON, Damon KNOWLES, John WILSON, Thomas WELLS and Marmaduke DAMOS.
