Shortly after their arrival, Mary Ann was delivered a second son, but she soon succumbed to child birth fever, with her newborn son only living a short while longer.
Samuel OSBORNE remarried in 1860 and had three more sons.  Unfortunately George Amos died of scarlet fever in 1861, thus Mary Ann's Australia story came to an abrupt end.
Prior to marrying Samuel OSBORNE in 1857, Mary Ann baptised another son, Francis Moucher, in 1855.  His father is not known.  Francis was buried in May 1857 at Misterton, the month before his mother married Samuel Osborne.

1245 My mother died in Richmond VA, at the Laurels of University Park, a long-term care facility.  My sister, Marilyn, lives near there.

My mother suffered from Alzheimer's disease, and her last years were not kind to her.  So her passing was really a blessing.

We are having a memorial service for her in Canton, PA,  on 12 May 2012.  Canton is the town where I grew up, and is a place my mother loved dearly.  It is also the town where my grandmother, Myrtle Motyer (wife of Henry), lived, for about the last 10 years of her life (she died in 1965).

We will be scattering my mother's ashes in several places in the Bradford County PA area.  My mother always cherished her Bermuda heritage, and because of that, I always felt there was some Bermuda in me.

1246 My original records had this person listed as being born in a place called CAMBRAN, in Wales.  However, I am not able to find any place in Wales called Cambran.

There is a place called Cwmbran, however.  It's a new town, though, today forming part of the county borough of Torfaen, and lying within the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire.  It was established in 1949, to provide new employment opportunities in the south-eastern portion of the South Wales Coalfield.

And herein lies the problem: Florence May "Dolly" GOSLING was born in 1888, half a century before the town was formed.  This location could still be correct for her, as she could have been born (and lived) in this region, which would eventually be formed later in her life as Cwmbran.

Also, Cwmbran (the name of this town in question), is pronounced Cumbran (with the 'a' sounding like the 'a' in 'bran').  The original source (person), when providing the location of her birthplace, could have assumed that she was born in Cambran, based on pronunciation.

For this reason, I am listing her as being born in Cwmbran.
GOSLING, Florence May “Dolly” (I946)

1247 My own note: The reference states that they were married on Wednesday, Sept. 8.  Their first child, son Nathan, was born in 1914.  Assuming that they were married before their first child was born, 8th September 1909 was the first time before their first child was born that an 8th of September fell on a Wednesday.  The next time after 1909 that an 8th of September fell on a Wednesday would've been 8th September 1915, about a year after their first child Nathan was born.  So that is why I am guessing that they were married in 1909. Family: Maurice SHELLER / Leah Vera Viva BENJAMIN (F2187)

1248 Myrtle Clare Motyer Maclaren, 84,

June 5, 2002

Myrtle Clare Motyer Maclaren, 84, a Greenwich resident, died May 11.  She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born Nov. 29, 1917, in Pembroke, Bermuda, she was the daughter of the late Léonce Reginald and Emily Jones Cooper Motyer.

Mrs. Maclaren was raised in Bermuda, attending the Bermuda High School for Girls.  She graduated from Mt. Allison Ladies College in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada.

She trained as a nurse at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Bermuda and later moved to Montreal to work at the Montreal General Hospital in Canada.  She worked at the Royal Victoria Maternity Hospital, Children's Memorial Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital for Communicable Disease, all in Montreal, and the King Edward VII Hospital in Bermuda.

She married the late William James Walker Maclaren in 1942 in Georgetown, Ontario, and settled in Montreal.

Both were very involved with their church in Montreal, participating in the choir and youth groups.

In the 1950s they moved to Yonkers, N.Y., and worked at the Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.  They went on to build their home in Greenwich, where she did volunteer work at Greenwich Hospital.

Mrs. Maclaren and her husband were both involved in the Second Congregational Church in Greenwich, participating in the choir, the youth ministry, Sunday school and charitable works.  She also was very involved with the YWCA and projects to feed and clothe the needy around the world.

She is survived by two sisters, Jean Hatten of Kent, England, and Gwenyth Nixon of Point Shares, Bermuda; a brother, Léonce Reginald Motyer of Burlington, Canada; 19 nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews.

There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Second Congregational Church, 139 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich.  An informal reception will follow.

A private committal service for the family is scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Second Congregational Church's Union Cemetery and Memorial Garden, or to their Outreach Projects, 139 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich, CT 06830.
